The day started working with the department Office Support. Here they mainly generate Product Orders and approve them. I got to enter some of these orders as well and after two, it got a bit boring. Imagine doing that all day. Not quite the thing that I want to do when I grow up. After working there for a while, I got to work at the reception. Here I was taught what they do there, what kind tasks they need to take care of like buying sweets for the employees. Also buying plane tickets and hotel reservations. The two woman working there were really nice and they had to deal with some administration work and didn't quite have a job for me. After some time, one had to put some papers in the shredder, a machine that tears up pieces of paper into small pieces. A got a whole bag full of paper with me and it was quite fun to do.
Nick Lakin, the HR manager and Sam Bailey, taking care of the HR Recruitment took us out for lunch at McDonalds. After that we still had an hour left for lunch and we went to the Starbucks at the Renaissance Hotel, across the street from the Vanderlande Integration House.
In the afternoon I had Work in Planning with Dave. Remember the contract from yesterday? Once those are signed, the Planning department can start their work. So once they got the final idea from the client, the planning can begin. They start with sitting around a table, writing down the ideas and showing them to their boss and the client, improve it where needed. After that, they can start precuring the materials. It isn't smart to order all of them at the same time because then you wouldn't have enough space to store them. So they plan when which materials are needed and how long everything takes. They make large planners of what to do when and these are also shown to the client.
We had to quit earlier because Dave had to go to a meeting with the client, delivering a monthly report, showing all the progress of that month. One of the other guys that work in Planning was from the Netherlands as well, whom I talked to yesterday. It was nice having one of the adults to whom you can just talk Dutch to. Unfortunately he had to go to the meeting as well and Noa was still busy with her program so I waited in the cafeteria.
In the evening we bought a salad at the gas station and ate something extremely healthy compared to the other food we ate this week. We also had some sandwiches and apples.
